Advanced Cyanotype
with Kay Grogg
Grades 9 - Adult
Advanced Cyanotype will take you to the next level of this photo process. Students will further explore the wet method, make double exposures, bleach and tone prints using tea, and print on fabric. This two-session workshop will emphasize cyanotype techniques so the students can successfully create cyanotypes at home.
Pre-requisite: Beginning Level Cyanotype Class or basic Cyanotype experience. Instruction is limited to new techniques so basic how-to is necessary to follow this action loaded class.

Glass Fusion - Picture Frame Workshop

Ages 14 - Adult
In this glass fusion class, each student can make up to three picture frames. All tools and materials are included and fired projects will be available two weeks after the class.

Glass Fusion - Pendants Workshop

Ages 14 - Adult
In this two-hour glass fusion workshop, students will make decorative glass pendants to wear or share. This hands-on session is designed for fun! Students will make up to eight pendants while learning the basics of fused glass. Students will have the chance to use frit, stingers, and dichroic glass to make unique creations! All tools and materials are included and fired projects will be available two weeks after the class.

Story Collecting

Ages 15 - Adult
This two-part class is designed for those interested in collecting oral stories from family members, neighbors, veterans, and community members. Participants learn how to conduct one-on-one interviews as well as how to hold story circles through a combination of class instruction and hands-on training. This class covers such skills as generating effective questions, finding potential storytellers, creating the best environment, as well as proper use of recording equipment. Participants each receive a PDF guidebook which follows the training course and Power Points. All who complete the course will be certified story collectors for Jonesborough’s StoryTown Programs. All Participants are encouraged to continue using the skills learned in this class by becoming a StoryTown Brigade member, and to collect stories from Washington County community members for use in Jonesborough’s StoryTown programs, which include a monthly radio show, podcast, annual play, and other projects.

Grocery Bag Basket

Grocery Bag Basket We will be weaving a basket to hold all those bags we get at the stores and shops. The basket has a wooden base and a leather handle. Color insert reed will be chosen by the students on the day of class.
