Creative Circle Writers Group

Ages 15- Adult
This writers group meets on the second and fourth Thursday of the month at the McKinney Center. The group this year will focus on developing and generating stories for possible use in the monthly radio show “StoryTown Radio Show and Podcast” which performs at the McKinney Center and airs on WETS 89.5 FM. The group will also develop stories and pieces for other special story-based programs that are part of the StoryTown Initiative. In addition, members are encouraged to bring creative works to develop for their own purposes. Techniques in writing for radio and the stage are regularly discussed.
10:00 am - 11:30 am, Thursdays, February 23, March 9, 23, April 13, May 11, 25. (No class on April 27). Class will meet every 2nd and 4th Thursdays.
Springtime Handbuilding with Clay

Winter is over and spring has sprung! This special spring themed class will have you creating with clay using basic handbuilding techniques. Expect to have several useful and decorative items to use around your garden and home. All clay materials and tools will be provided.

Acoustic Guitar - Private Lessons - APRIL- Kids & Teens - 30 minutes

Ages 7 - 17
These 30-minute private lessons are for all levels of skill. Students will learn basic terminology and foundational aspects of playing the guitar, chords, and melodies. Class is less theory and more practical application but can also be adapted to the needs and wants of each student. Students will need to supply their own guitar, strings, and picks. Four one-hour classes, one per week. Sessions will re-start every 4 weeks. You may register for additional sessions at your leisure.
Once you register for the class, you will receive an email or phone call to schedule your day and time for lessons. Four lessons/dates will be scheduled in this series. Lessons will restart each month through May. Go ahead and register for future months if you wish. There are no refunds or make-ups for missed lessons.
If you prefer a one-hour lesson, please sign up for that option instead.

Painting Workshop
with Beverly Thomas Jenkins

Grades 9 - Adult
This 2-day workshop is for the person who wants to try painting without having prior knowledge of painting. Students will be creating a beautiful vase of flowers using water-soluable oil paint. The style is intuitive, casual, and abstract. The canvas is a 9"x12" flat board which will fit a frame of your choice (not included). This is a great workshop to take with family or friends!
You can also reserve a private workshop with a minimum of 6 guests! Please call the McKinney Center to make this reservation.

Artsploration Camp
with Donna Bird

Grades: Kindergarten - 6th Grade (must have completed Kindergarten)
Class Limit: 16 students
Students will spend the week exploring the colorful diversity of the world through art projects from many cultures. Classes will incorporate a broad range of art techniques and media, including painting, sculpture, mixed media, and drawing, while discovering each culture’s rich visual traditions. Students will also learn about world customs, music, and celebrations, making the week a wonderful experience for both beginning and experienced young artists!
Registration fee includes all materials and supplies, snack, and a camp t-shirt!
