Springtime Handbuilding with Clay

Winter is over and spring has sprung! This special spring themed class will have you creating with clay using basic handbuilding techniques. Expect to have several useful and decorative items to use around your garden and home. All clay materials and tools will be provided.
10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. - Thursday, March 30, April 6, 13, 20, 27, May 4, 11, 18.
Clay Buddies
with Faith Belt

Grades K- 2
This entry level clay class is for the youngest of elementary school age children. Each class will be project-based to introduce young children to different clay working techniques. Children will learn planning and decorating techniques to complete projects.
9:00 am - 10:30 am, Saturdays, April 1, 15, 22, May 6 (No class on April 8 or April 29).
Kids N Clay
with Faith Belt

Grades 3-5
In this course, students will be exposed to a basic introduction to ceramic techniques designed for elementary school aged children. This class will create fun imaginative pieces which will be a mixture of decorative and functional items. This class includes all materials including clay, glazes, and kiln firing time.
11:00am - 12:30 pm, Saturdays, April 1, 15, 22, May 6 (No class on April 8 or April 29).
Potters Wheel Series - Level 2

Adults
This class is designed for those wishing to develop their own skills on the potter’s wheel. This class is designed to build students’ skills in the foundational elements of clay, glazes, and terminology. Every class will demonstrate a different wheel throwing exercise.
There are only 6 spots in this class to ensure that each student has wheel access. The registration fee covers all materials including clay, glazes, tools, and kiln firing time.
6:00 - 8:30 pm - Tuesdays, April 4, 11, 18, 25, May 2, 9.
Pottery Studio 101
with Kara Bledsoe

Grades: Kindergarten – 6th grade (must have completed Kindergarten)
Class Limit: 10 students
In this fun and messy class students will learn hand-building techniques and the use of the potter’s wheel. Students will also experience the delight of creating with their own hands and imagination in clay. Our goal is for each student to produce five projects that will go home with them to enjoy or give as gifts.
Registration fee includes materials such as clay and glazes, supplies, snack, and a camp t-shirt!
Projects need time to dry and will be fired in a kiln. Therefore, final projects will be available for pick up approximately 2 weeks after camp. The McKinney Center and camp instructors will notify parents when items are ready.
June 5, 6, 7, 8, 9
