Calendar Apr 9, 2024 at 2 pm, runs for 6 weeks

This class is a combination of both hand-building and wheel thrown techniques. Students will learn how to create functional and decorative wares from clay. We will make five projects with hand-building methods, and students will have opportunity to throw pots on the wheel. Decoration with surface textures, handles, and glaze examples will be discussed. Every class we will create different forms, and students will learn how to understand clay's versatility. You will have a chance to throw, trim, and modify a pot. We will explore slab-building, unique stencil form design, and surface decoration with the use of underglazes. After the fifth meeting, your pots will be bisque fired. The last night is left for glazing. If you're interested in taking a clay class and would like to explore your creativity using both hand-building and the wheel, this class may be for you.
