Mini Hand Building Session

Grades 5 - Adult
In this beginner class you will learn the basic clay building techniques needed to form pottery without the need of a wheel. Using minimal tools and most importantly your hands, you will learn to make coils, roll out slabs, and pinching techniques. Students will make many functional items such as bowls and serving plates, as well as fun, decorative pieces. Perfect for those new to clay and for the experienced thrower looking to expand their working knowledge of the medium. All clay, glazes, tools, and kiln firing time will be provided.
Thursdays, 10:30 am - 12:30 pm, September 1, 8, 15, 22.

Young Potters

Grades 6-8
This is a pottery class for older elementary and middle school age children. In this course, students will create fun, decorative, and functional projects and have the opportunity to explore different techniques for working with clay including the pottery wheel.
9:00 -10:30 am - Saturdays, September 3, 10, 17, 24, October 8, 15 (no class on October 1).
Kids N Clay

Grades 3-5
In this course, students will be exposed to a basic introduction to ceramic techniques designed for elementary school aged children. This class will create fun imaginative pieces which will be a mixture of decorative and functional items. This class includes all materials including clay, glazes, and kiln firing time.

Potters Wheel Series - Level 1

Adults
This beginning level class is designed for those wishing to develop their own skills on the potter’s wheel. This class is designed to build students’ skills in the foundational elements of clay, glazes, and terminology. Every class will demonstrate a different wheel throwing exercise.
There are only 6 spots in this class to ensure that each student has wheel access. The registration fee covers all materials including clay, glazes, tools, and kiln firing time.
6:00 - 8:30 pm - Tuesdays, September 6, 13, 20, 27, October 4, 11.
Hand-Building with Clay

Adult
Hand-building with pottery is another way of working with clay. The basic techniques are easier to learn and the range of forms you can produce is much broader. If you are interested in clay, but aren’t sure the wheel is for you, consider hand-building and begin creating wonderful functional pieces of artwork on your very first day. This class will give you the opportunity to create unique projects each week. Students will focus on the vocabulary of clay, slab construction, pinch pots, surface texture, clay impression and more. For students who are looking for a place to express their creativity, hand-building may be the experience for you.

This entry level clay class is for the youngest of elementary school age children. Each class will be project-based to introduce young children to different clay working techniques. Children will learn planning and decorating techniques to complete projects.

Holiday Hand-building with Clay

Grade 5 - ADULT
Handbuilding with clay is as versatile as it is fun. Using mainly our hands, we will start off with fun fall-themed projects and work until the Christmas season. Projects will be a mix of decorative and functional items. Expect on having several finished, unique pieces to use at holiday gatherings or to give as gifts.
