Clay - Daytime Advanced Pottery with Jess Parks
with Jess Parks
Adult
This class is a combination of both hand-building and wheel thrown techniques. Students will learn how to create functional and decorative wares from clay. We will make five projects with hand-building methods, and students will have the opportunity to throw pots on the wheel. Decoration with surface textures, handles, and glaze examples will be discussed. Every class we will create different forms, and students will learn how to understand clay's versatility. You will have a chance to throw, trim, and modify a pot. We will explore slab-building, unique stencil form design, and surface decoration with the use of underglazes. After the fifth meeting, your pots will be bisque fired. The last night is left for glazing. If you're interested in taking a clay class and would like to explore your creativity using both hand-building and the wheel, this class may be for you.

Mixed Media Collage
with Taylor Norris
Grade 9- Adult
Explore the possibilities that arise when making art from non-traditional materials and learn to masterfully blend different mediums together to form a unified artwork. We will consider how collage and assemblage art is "built" like a sculpture on a 2D surface, and a sense of play and experimentation will be encouraged. There will be new options to work from each week, including paper/found images, cardboard, fabric, duct tape, glitter, and more! Subject matter will range from the abstract to the representational. The history of collage as a medium will be discussed, and why it is relevant today. All skill levels welcome!
