Our Classes

Mountain Dulcimer - Private Lessons - APRIL - All Ages - 60 Min.

All Ages

These 60-minute private lessons are for individuals of all skill levels who are looking to learn the dulcimer or expand upon what they already know. Students will learn the basics of the dulcimer, as well as more advanced techniques tailored to everyone's needs. The material covered will explore playing melodies and chords, using different tunings, and techniques to further develop playing.

Students will need to supply their own dulcimer, strings, and picks.

Four classes, one per week. Sessions will re-start every 4 weeks. You may register for additional sessions at your leisure.

Once you register for the class, you will receive an email or phone call to schedule your day and time for lessons. Four lessons/dates will be scheduled in this series. Lessons will restart each month. 

Go ahead and register for future months if you wish. There are no refunds or make-up for missed lessons.

Canning Basics

This class will take place at the Gillespie Building, 1523 Persimmon Ridge Rd. Jonesborough, TN 37659.

This course will cover the basics of the two most popular ways of preserving food, water bath canning and pressure canning.  We will go over publications from the National Center for Home Food Preservation as well as from the University of Tennessee Extension Office that will address food safety concerns for home food preservation and processing.  Students will work directly in the preparation and processing of a few different foods; however, some preliminary preparation may need to be done by the instructor prior to class time.  Students will come away with a basic knowledge of canning, where to go for additional information, and a jar of what they have helped to can.

Glass Fusion - Garden Stakes Workshop

A two-hour glass fusion workshop making decorative glass stakes to liven up your potted plants. Each student will create their own designs and make up to five garden stakes.  All materials are included and fired projects will be available two weeks after class.

Jewelry Art for Beginners

This class will show students how to make a sculptural work of art out of jewelry.  Students can bring their own jewelry or use the pieces that will be provided.  Students will have three patterns to choose from to make their special work of art.

Payment plan available: $25 deposit plus 4 payments of $40.50, paid every four weeks.

Cyanotype Printing Workshop 1

Grades 9 - ADULT

Cyanotype is a photo process developed in the late 1800s. We will be coating paper with a photosensitive solution to make our exposures to the sun. Exploring both regular and the wet processes will give the participants a variety of prints. This class is a wonderful way to understand how photography was originally used in its inception. Beautiful Indigo blue photo prints are the result of this process.
