Mixed Media Drawing

Grade 6- Adult
Our new Mixed Media class builds upon a foundation of drawing, while expanding the possibilities with a multitude of mediums. Students will learn how to create varying degrees of line width using pen & ink; while also being introduced to brush pens -- creating smooth, flowing energetic lines. A world of color, texture and composition will be explored, using techniques from printmaking, painting and even textiles! Students are encouraged to explore processes such as collage and abstraction. All skill levels and ages are welcome! This class will transition to online if the need arises.

Adventures in Drawing

Grade 9- Adult
This class explores basic drawing techniques and how to use a variety of drawing media: pencils, color pencils, oil pastels, chalk pastels, charcoal, and pen & ink. The instructor will provide step-by-step instruction with demonstrations with each new technique. Students will do a number of studies and finished pieces using each media/technique. This class will transition to online if the need arises.

Anime Art Club

Grades 5 - 12
This class focuses on the Japanese originated comic style of Manga and Anime drawings. During the duration of the course, students will learn the basics of rendering multiple styles of generic anime figures, known characters and, eventually, will be able to create their own original character. Students will learn the rules of proportions and characterized anatomy, pen and ink techniques, and coloring processes. This class will provide a safe and creative space for young artists to experiment within their chosen illustrative styles. All skill levels are welcome! This class will transition to online if the need arises.

Zentangle Method of Drawing - Introduction

Grade 9- Adult
The Zentangle Method of Art is an easy to learn art form that is FUN and RELAXING! Beautiful images can be created by drawing structured patterns. As you become engrossed in the process, your focus becomes, “Zen” like and relaxed, resulting in individually unique masterpieces. Students must complete this class or have previous Zentangle experience before taking, Working With Tan Tiles." This workshop may transition to online if the need arises.

Mandala Magic Workshop

9th Grade to Adult
Mandalas are circle drawings that are very relaxing to create. The radial and repetitive nature helps focus the mind, enabling concentration and lets creativity flow. During this workshop, students will learn how to draw a radial mandala. Drawing and coloring their mandala will help with mindfulness & bring a sense of peace & relaxation. Students will work on one mandala with different options for coloring. The final piece will be framed & ready to display.

Zentangle- Working with Tan Tiles

Grade 9- Adult
Prerequisite: Introduction to Zentangle Method of Drawing
This class will be a continuation of the Zentangle Method of Drawing. Students will explore the tan or Renaissance tiles using black and brown ink; white gel pens, and white charcoal. Please bring your graphite pencil, black pens, etc., from the first class. The additional new materials will be provided with class fee. This class may transition online if the need arises.
